Why Seiko is the watch collectors recommend first

Founded in Tokyo in 1881, Seiko is one of the few watchmakers that designs and builds its own movements, cases and dials under one roof — which is how it delivers real mechanical watchmaking at prices most brands can't touch.

1881Kintaro Hattori opens a watch shop in Tokyo — the company that becomes Seiko.
1913The Laurel: Japan's first wristwatch.
1965Seiko's first professional diver's watch, the start of the Prospex lineage.

Owning a Seiko means owning a watch built entirely by the company whose name is on the dial.

Seiko 5 Sports is where most people start. Every model is an automatic — powered by the motion of your wrist, no battery ever — with a see-through case back, day-date display and a case built for daily wear. It's the most-recommended mechanical watch under $500 for good reason.

Prospex (Professional Specifications) is Seiko's tool-watch line. The dive models are ISO-rated to 200 meters, with screw-down crowns, lumed hands and rotating bezels — the same lineage as the watches Seiko has supplied to expeditions and rescue teams since 1965. Prospex Solar models add the convenience of a light-powered movement that never needs winding.

Presage is the dress line: automatic movements behind enamel, porcelain and textured dials, including the famous Cocktail Time collection inspired by Tokyo bartenders. If you want a mechanical watch for the office or a wedding, this is the one.

Are your Seiko watches brand new and authentic?

Yes. Every Seiko we sell is brand new, in its original Seiko box and packaging. We're a brick-and-mortar jeweler at the Mall of Georgia — you can see and handle any watch in person before you buy.

Will you size the bracelet?

Yes — we size every watch bought in store before you leave, and you're welcome to bring in an online order and we'll fit it while you wait.

Can I wear a Seiko 5 Sports swimming?

Seiko 5 Sports models are rated to 100 meters, which covers swimming and snorkeling. For diving, choose a Prospex model rated to 200 meters with a screw-down crown. Always make sure the crown is pushed in before water, and never operate it while wet.

How often does an automatic Seiko need service?

Seiko's automatic movements are famously robust; a full service every 5–7 years is typical. Batteries in quartz models last 2–3 years, and we replace them at the counter. See our watch repair and battery services.

Both. Orders ship free — or call us and we'll set one aside for you to try on and pick up at the Mall of Georgia, second level, next to Victoria's Secret.
