Seiko HGK003 “Edo Purple” Chronograph – 145th Anniversary Limited Edition

Seiko marks 145 years of watchmaking with the HGK003, a limited-edition chronograph in a rich Edo purple. The dial has a fine grid texture that changes with the light, and it’s set off by three off-white subdials, silver applied indices, and gold accents. A black outer ring frames the dial and gives it some depth.

The angular 40mm stainless steel case is compact for a chronograph, at 11.5mm thick and 45.8mm lug to lug, so it sits comfortably on most wrists. It’s topped with scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and finished with a screw-down case back engraved “LIMITED EDITION.”

Inside is Seiko’s Caliber 8T63 quartz movement. It’s accurate to ±15 seconds per month and runs about three years on a battery. It times events up to 60 minutes in 1/5-second increments, and it adds a 24-hour hand, small seconds, and a date display. It’s ready to wear whenever you pick it up, with no winding or resetting.

Built for everyday wear, the HGK003 is water resistant to 100 meters and magnetic resistant to 4,800 A/m. It comes on a stainless steel bracelet with a three-fold push-button clasp.
