Seiko Prospex SRPL15 Black Samurai Automatic Diver Watch 41.7mm

The Seiko Prospex SRPL15 is a modern, all-black take on the Samurai, one of Seiko’s best-known dive watches. The Samurai has been part of the Prospex “Sea” line since 2004, and this version keeps its angular case lines and sharp hands in a slimmer, more compact build.

The stainless steel case has a black hard coating and measures 41.7mm across, 12.3mm thick, and 49.5mm lug to lug. That makes it a dive watch that wears well both in the water and on dry land. A black unidirectional rotating bezel frames the matte black dial. LumiBrite on the hands, indices, and bezel keeps everything readable in low light, and a date window sits between 4 and 5 o’clock.

Inside is Seiko’s Caliber 4R35 automatic movement with 23 jewels, running at 21,600 vibrations per hour. It winds itself as you wear it and can also be wound by hand, and it holds about 41 hours of power reserve. A hacking seconds hand lets you set the time to the second.

The SRPL15 is a true ISO-standard diver’s watch, rated to 200 meters with a screw-down crown and a screw case back. It’s also magnetic resistant to 4,800 A/m. It comes on a black silicone strap and weighs just 100g, so it stays comfortable through long days of wear.
